Review of 10 Popular Pizza Places in Zurich

Review of 10 Popular Pizza Places in Zurich

“I think of dieting, then I eat pizza.” – Lara Stone

As I am married to half Italian, you can imagine that we eat Pizza occasionally and have high expectations from Pizzeria. I have to admit that most of the places in Zurich and overall in Swiss/French parts of Switzerland are not good enough, thus I am reviewing Pizzarias in Zurich and in the end you will find my top 3 approved by Italian :D

When choosing a Pizzeria pay attention if a restaurant has a wood or electric oven. If there is a wood oven it’s already a good sign that most likely pizza will be good.

All pictures are old and made without intention to use for this blog post, when I’ll go again to these places I’ll make new ones and include photos of the restaurants itself. But I hope the ones I have still shows how pizzas look like.

10 Dieci

Google Rating 4.1

📍All around Zurich

For a pizza delivery in Switzerland I think Dieci is doing a good job. Pizza in Dieci is alway predictable, they deliver pretty fast as they are located all over city.

The normal pizza is actually not so big in size, which I think is good, as you don’t feel like you overeating, but probably for a man it is a bit small.

My favourite is ‘Dieci’ pizza with San Daniele ham and mascarpone. My husband hence doesn’t like it so much and I can admit that of course it is not a typical Italian pizza.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 21.

  • Margarita - CHF 16

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 21

9. Miracle

Google Rating 4.6

📍Fröhlichstrasse 37, 8008

This place has very good reviews and apparently is famous for pizza, but in my rating it didn’t climb high. I also think this restaurant is not managed by Italians, so I didn’t feel Pizzeria atmosphere, hence restaurant is very cute and cosy.

Pizza was good indeed, but not the best and nothing special. What I can point out that pizza was very thin and crusty, which some people like. I actually like this kind of pizzas, but I need to admit it wasn’t real Italian pizza. It definitely worth visiting, but it is not pizza place that I think first if I am craving a pizza.

This place wasn’t approved by my husband, thus so far we didn’t come back.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 21.

  • Margarita - CHF 13

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 19

8. Samigo Garten

Google Rating 4.0

📍Mythenquai 59, 8002

If you want to enjoy lakeside on a summer day Samigo garden is a good option. Again I cannot say that pizza is amazing there, but is pretty good and they have wood oven.

My favourite there is Double Truffle pizza, hence the price tag is CHF 34. Also overall, I think pizza here is a bit overpriced. Of course the lakeside location pumps the price up, but I don’t really like the atmosphere and furniture of the Garten. It looks like a kiosk and not really comfortable.

But this pizza was approved by my husband. As I’ve mentioned before it is not the best in town, but very decent quality.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 24.

  • Margarita - CHF 22

  • Prosciutto - CHF 25

7. Brera

Google Rating 4.1

📍Kanzleistrasse 126, 8004

This place is relatively new and there was quite a lot of hype around it. We’ve ordered it once for a group of 4 people, 3 were Italian. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t good and no one liked it. Pizza was very dry and at some point it was taking a lot of effort to cut it. I really hope that it was an exception and usually pizza there is better.

So, as you already understood it wasn’t approved by my husband.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 28.

  • Prosciutto - CHF 28

6. Avanti

Google Rating 4.1

📍Stationsstrasse 1,
8003

This place is very particular. Inside the atmosphere is very chilled and reminds a small Italian place for locals. However, the building is under reconstruction now and they moved around the corner and I haven’t been there yet.

Speaking about pizza, it’s a good Italian style pizza, but it is funny that every time it is a little bit different. Sometimes it is too much liquid, so we started to go there less often. But the pizza is huge, so usually we take one to share.

This place is approved by Italian.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 28.

  • Margarita - CHF 15

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 21

5. Il Basilico

Google Rating 4.1

📍Birmensdorferstrasse 364, 8055

This place specialise in delivery, but I like that they made their place very cosy and you are still served by a waiter. So sometimes we order, sometimes we like to go there straight away.

Pizza is always good, you know what to expect. They also have a very good variety of pizzas. My favourite one is Parmigiana. Truffle pizza is also good there.

This place is approved by Italian.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 22.

  • Margarita - CHF 17

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 21

4. Don Leone

Google Rating 4.3

📍Bäckerstrasse 31, 8004

This restaurant is very Italian, cosy atmosphere and pizzas are pretty typical. If you come here I would say in 90% of cases you won’t be disappointed and will get a good tasty pizza. They also have interesting pizzas, which are actually half and half of 2 different pizzas.

This place is approved by Italian.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 22.

  • Margarita - CHF 16.50

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 19.50

3. Luigia

Google Rating 4.2

📍Talstrasse 61, 8001

This place is serving typical Neapolitan pizza. I cannot say that it is my favourite, as for some pizzas I find mix of ingredients a little bit strange. Also, quite often it arrives quite burned. But my husband recently started to love it. I just stick to Prosciutto Funghi to be happy and I am curious to try their special fancy pizzas.

Considering how much delivery they do and how big is the restaurant, they are doing a good job.

Definitely approved by Italian.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 22.

  • Margarita - CHF 16

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 22.50

2. Il Postino

This place is in Oerlikon and I love the atmosphere there. The pizza is also always good, like in Italy and we never been disappointed.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 22.

  • Margarita - CHF 19

  • Prosciutto Funghi - CHF 21

1. San Gennaro

Google Rating 4.5

📍Hönggerstrasse 43, 8037

This place in my opinion is the best in town. First of all, location is very cool. It is overlooking a river and they have a nice terrace. Secondly, quality of pizza is perfect. This place is very popular, you can see long queues, so I recommend to book in advance, as most of the time it is also fully booked.

This place is definitely approved by Italian.

The average price for a normal size pizza is around CHF 23.

  • Margarita - CHF 19

  • Prosciutto Funghi – CHF 19

Let me know in comments what are your favourite pizza places in Zurich and why. I’m sure there are more places in town that we can discover together!
