The Brasserie Lipp - Parisian flair in the middle of Zurich
Whether for lunch, a petit-déjeuner or coffee, the brasserie with the restaurant and the large summer terrace is one of the most beautiful locations on Bahnhofstrasse.
It was a long time I wanted to visit the Brasserie Lipp, but managed to do it only after 3 years in Zurich. Sometimes we explore and travel so much, but forget about our own city. So, this year I’ve decided to change it and explore my neighbourhood and Zurich in general more activelly.

Vibe
The Brasserie Lipp is located close to Bahnhofstrasse and I find it fantastic that in such a busy and central location they have a terrace. Already outside you can see and feel French vibes. Once you enter inside you might even forget you’re in Zurich. From interior and decorations to the way waiters are dressed the vibe is totally classy and chic.
Food
The signature of the Brasserie Lipp is seafood. They have apparently the largest selection of different types of oysters in the city of Zurich. Of course, you can also find the traditional French cuisine dishes. We opted in this time for this option. It was the first time I’ve tried the famous Onion soup and you know, it is delicious.
For started we took Beef tartar, which comes with toasts and Onion soup. I would also recommend to try their tuna tartar, I didn’t try it yet, but I’ve heard it’s amazing. For the main, we had Mussles pot and Café de Paris steak.
Next time we’re back to the Brasserie Lipp we will definitely take seafood. Write in comments what are your favourite dishes in the Brasserie Lipp.
Service
The service was great, the food comes fast, waiters are very polite and attentive to details. Special compliments to the manager of the restaurant Andreas, he is extremely helpful, attentive and manages the place perfectly.
Price
The price is a bit over the average in Zurich city, but matching the price of other restaurants of that level. Our bill for 2 was CHF 123 without alcohol and deserts, but consider if you’ll opt-in for our seafood bill will be higher. I would say around CHF 180-250 for 2.
Conclusion
Depending on your lifestyle and food preferences maybe it is not the restaurant you go to often, due to the price tag and menu options, but if you love seafood, want to feel Parisian vibes the Brasserie Lipp is definitely should be on your list to check out.
A small tip from me, if you want to continue with drinks consider visiting Jules Verne Panoramabar Zurich, which you can access from the Brasserie Lipp and it belongs to the same chain. The views over Zurich from up there are fantastic. This is a little gem that not many people know about.
